My favorite beautiful glass bird. The yellow Contrasti bird offers layers of rich yellow glass around a solid black center, creating a beautiful contrast of light and dimension. Surprisingly substantial in weight, the Contrasti bird is sleek and polished; a magnificent work of contemporary interpretation. Each Vigna Bird is individually handcrafted by master glassblowers at iittala’s renowned glassworks in Nuutajärvi, Finland. The time-intensive process of forming, cutting, and polishing each bird showcases the skill of these craftsmen. Approx 23 cm (9″) long and 11 cm (4’25”) tall. Vigna Iittala and has original sticker. In excellent vintage condition without any chips, cracks, grayness or deep scratches. Only small signs of normal wear. I post world wide and wrap with care. Large Vintage Modern Blown Glass Barn Owl, Oiva Toikka, Iittala, Finland, 96
Pictured below is an excellent and large vintage modern blown glass barn owl designed by Oiva Toikka for Iittala, Nuutajarvi, Finland, circa 96. The handmade piece features a stylized, idiosyncratic design of an owl, with a rounded, closed-form body. The exterior feathered surface is lightly iridized in a combination of light gray, brown and blue glass; the big eyes and beak are medium orange and black. This is a substantial, weighty piece and a very well-executed example, with clean, modern lines and lots of personality. Measurements: The owl stands about 6 tall and measures about 4 in diameter at its widest point. Condition: It is in excellent used vintage condition, no chips, cracks, notable scratches, or other issues. Marks: It is signed on the bottom with acid-etched marks, O. FROM MADEIRA WITH LOVE…. Vintage hand blown art glass bird figurine, made in Finland, labeled as illustrated, “iittala”. Signed “O Toikka, Nuutajarvi”. This would be from a limited edition launched in 1997. This example has survived prior display free of chips, cracks or repairs. The bird has a crystal clear head with an opaque greenish earthy tone iridescent body. Finished with pulled white rings or veins. It stands 12.5cm (5″) tall and measures 16cm (6 1/2″) end to end. I inserted a standard size playing card in one photo for size referrence.
