Series/Name: Apilanlehti Exclusive Bird. Production Period: Late 1980s. Size: Approximately W13.9 × D7.0 × H8.8 cm. Please note that measurements are taken by hand and may have slight inaccuracies. Color: Charcoal, Peacock Blue, Iron Blue, Luster, etc. Please be aware that the colors may slightly differ depending on your monitor. Back Sign: Hand-engraved / O. Seal: Foil seal / NUUTAJARVI 1793 MADE IN FINLAND. This bird was created as an exclusive item for the Finnish tableware company Apilanlehti (now Fyrklover). It has a beautiful luster with colors that are not overly flashy, giving it a moderately luxurious feel. There are no cracks, chips, repairs, or any other damage, and it is in excellent condition. The white or lighter areas in the photos are due to light reflection and are not color fading. There are almost no signs of wear or scratches from use, and the piece retains its shine with little indication of use. There are tiny dimples in some areas, and a small depression at the joint of the head. Vintage pieces may show small bubbles, inclusions, glass twists or distortions, seams, etc. Please understand these as part of the manufacturing characteristics of that era. A design legend, Toikka created an iconic collection of Iittala glass birds in 1972, which combined his passion for nature and blown glass art. Each bird has its own personality, making it a one-of-a-kind art object. Handmade and mouthblown at the Iittala Glass Factory, the collection fuses glassmaking traditions and Toikka’s partnership with his master craftsmen. The Ruby Bird is a rich translucent red color dotted with silvery gold flecks. Original factory sticker and Toikka’s signature on the bottom. This is a 100% authentic bird. But it is a third class bird. What that means is that iitilla has three classifications for its birds. 1st class which is perfect, 2nd class which has few imperfections, and third class which has more imperfections. This one is a third class. So there is no signature on the bottom. It is still a iitilla bird. But they didn’t have it signed because it’s 3rd class.
