The 2010 collection of birds by Oiva Toikka are individually mouth-blown by the master glassblowers at iittalas glassworks in Nuutajrvi, Finland. The approximate size is 5.5″ tall and 8″ long. Limited production of only 1,200 birds, with Finn Fest 2004 O. Toikka Nuutajrvi hand engraved on the bottom of each bird. Hurry before this disappears. All of the Toikka birds are highly collected, individually made, mouth-blown pieces of art. Each bird is handmade at iittalas famous glassworks in Nuutajrvi, Finland and carries a mark ensuring authenticity. This is a contemporary Scandinavian art glass figurine of a Siberian Jay bird, hand blown in Finland in 2011. It is signed by artist O. Toikka of Nuutajärvi, part of the Iittala Toika product line. The figurine is 6.25 inches long, 3.5 inches tall, and features gray and orange colors with a glossy finish. It weighs 11.8 ounces and has an etched backstamp. 6-1/4″ L x 3″ W x 3-1/2 H (16 x 7.6 x 9 cm). Discontinued this bird is no longer in production.

The 2008 annual bird gets its name from a piece of Finnish poetry, Kukunor and Kalahari, by Lauri Viita. The poem tells the story of two trolls who spend a winter in a professors empty summer cottage, entranced by the wonders of its library. A celebration of imagination and life, this poem captures many of the themes that reappear again and again in Toikkas work. Like the poem, Toikkas Cuconor is a beautiful work of fiction. It has a round white body, enlivened by flecks of gold, rose, green and blue. The metallic marks shimmer in the light, awakening a sense of wonder in all who lay their eyes upon it. Its small head is made of clear glass so as not to distract from the subtle beauty of its stunning body. With its inspiring story and lovely appearance, this is one bird that is easy to love. 5″ H x 3-1/2″ W x 9 L (beak to tail) (12.5 x 9 x 23 cm). Toikka, Nuutajärvi 2008 (hand-etched).
