Professor Oiva Toikka’s surprising and bold glass art deviates from the streamlined aesthetic of Nordic design. An internationally renowned artist, he has won numerous respected awards in recognition of his consummate artistry. The Birds collection is Toikka’s best-known tour de force and it is renewed annually. The birds are highly sought after as gifts and collector s pieces. 1931 is as colourful as his art. The Karelian-born Toikka has designed everyday glassware, scene design and lectured at universities, but his greatest passion has been art glass.
