Also known as the New York bluebird, this Toikka bird commemorated Oiva Toikka’s 2006 visit to the Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, NY. Only 1250 were blown, each numbered. 5″ L x 3-1/2″ H (13 x 9 cm). Yes, Limited to 1250.

Able to create specific characters and personalities out of a simple piece of glass, designer Anu Penttinen gained recognition for her colorful and creative line of glass birds. Iittalas Funky Violet is a great example of how thoughtful colors and smart contouring can create an art piece that almost seems real. A translucent head a beak provide a sleek contrast to the milky lilac body of the bird. Sky Curlew might be Toikka’s ultimate expression of the lightness of birds. Its shape–long thin beak to its extended narrow tail–and its colors–silvery lustre on soft baby blue–create a bird which seems as light as the sky itself. 4″ H x 5-3/4″ L (14.5 x 10 cm). This Glass Bird is no longer in production.

Standing tall on it’s pedestal and dressed to impressed, the Heron is a handsome bird. This mirrors its real-life counterpart, the long-legged wading birds. It was designed by Oiva Toikka and released in 2006. 4-3/4″ L x 8-3/4″ H (12 x 22 cm). No longer in production.
