Back Signature: Hand carved/ Kansallis-Osake-Pankki Oiva Toikka Nuutajarvi Notsjo. Condition: In very good condition with no cracks, chips, cracks, or repair marks. The white and light-colored areas in the image are due to the reflection of light, and there is no color loss. There are some scratches on the back ground surface, but nothing major or noticeable, and the entire piece is shiny. The overall glossy finish gives the piece a slight sense of use. There are some small dents in places. There are also three white areas on the sides that reflect light. There are no defects on the surface, and it is thought to be roughness of the glass caused by the manufacturing process.

This sweet, petite art glass figurine of a Little Tern (Tirri Punainen), was designed and hand-blown by renowned Finnish artist Oiva Toikka in 2009. Signed by Toikka himself, it is a true original, not a licensed reproduction. Crafted using a traditional art glass production technique, it measures approximately 2.75″ in length x 2″ in height, (7 x 5 cm). In it’s original box, it is in excellent condition. The first glass birds of Birds by Toikka collection were designed in 1972 by Professor Oiva Toikka, renowned for his unique contribution to Finnish art glass over the past half-century. So far over 400 species have been created, some of them more enduring in production than others. Each bird is a mouth-blown, unique individual, signed with the artist’s name. The passing of time enhances the value of these art objects – that is why Birds by Toikka are cherished and valued gifts and irresistible to collectors around the world.
