The Whip Poor Will was designed in 1991 as part of the Birds (Linnut) Series. Birds by Toikka mouth blown Whip-Poor-Will features a long, thin beak and a short tail. The dark green stripes that wrap around its sleek shape are meant to resemble the camouflage plumage of the real whip-poor-will. Iittala state that the craftsmen who make their glass items all have their own individual way of working with glass, leaving a personal mark behind. This unique hand print plus the unpredictability of glass results in subtle variations and small air bubbles, giving the mouth blown glass its unique charm.
