These two Swans are a numbered/dated matched set (#317, 2005) The Swans were first released in 2004 and ours are dated 2005. These two birds have what’s called a “running number”, meaning that there is not a limit to how many will be produced, just that each one that is produced will have a number. That is why you don’t see the number engraved with a slash and a second number which would be the limit (for example: 215/500 is the 215th bird of 500 that will be produced). Instead, they engraved the year under the bird’s number. By running the numbers in this way, Iittala can continue to release these two swans over many years. It’s very difficult to find a NUMBER MATCHED SET of these Swans! Additional information: Karelia is a province in Finland which was the inspiration for the composition by the Finnish composer Sibelius for the Karelia Suite – a tone poem type of classical music. Both birds are #317 and are in excellent condition. The White one measures 32.2cm x 19.5cm, and the Grey one measures 32.4cm x 18.5cm. Both have an engraved signature: O.
